Prayer Wheel Corner at Changangkha Lhakhang
The Changangkha Lhakhang (monastary) in Thimpu was a favorite spot to shoot. I liked this particular perspective, again with a very wide angle lens which gives both an intersting perspective and color contrasts.
Women in Purple Dress at Changangkha Lhakhang Prayer Wheels 1
The Changangkha Lhakhang (monastary) in Thimpu was a favorite spot to shoot. I spent some time at this particular spot photographing people spinning the prayer wheels. I shot this with a very wide angle lens to include the salmon colored band and medallions high up the wall and this particular woman's purple dress was a nice complement to the colors of the wheels and wall.
Changangkha Lhakhang Doorway
The flowers and doorway made for an interesting and colorful composition.
Gantey Gompa - Prayer Wheel 1
This colorful prayer wheel at Gantey Gompa make a nice composition with the colorful mural on the wall behind it.

Young Monks at Dzong
The three young monks in doorway and the sleeping dog made for an interesting human interest composition. I wish the light had been a bit softer, but we take what we can get.

Young Monk at Karpo Lhakhang 1
In the Haa Valley at the Karpo Lhakhang (monastary) I encountered a group of young monks. They are generally not happy, as they are put into the monastary at a young age , sometimes as early as 4, by their parents trying to curry favor from the monks. It is a hard life as reflected in their expression.

Man at Gantey Gompa
This gentleman at Gantey Gompa was a willing and dignified portrait subject. I liked the light, and while the background is a bit distracting, it gives a good sense of place.

Coy Girl in Phobjikha Valley
Hiking through the Phobjikha Valley, I came across some children behind a fence. This girl was very coy but was very present for the photo.
Shy Girl Bhutan 1
On our way to the Duchala pass, we stopped at a small temple. Behind the temple I saw this young girl, daughter of the caretaker. She was being very coy, but still wanted her picture taken. The sidelight on her face and her position were perfect. One of my favorite people pictures from Bhutan.
Membartsho - Burning Lake - Offering Floating Incense
At Membartsho, a holy spot where a monk dove and recovered a holy ancient script, people float lit incense candles for good luck. I just caught this man floating an offering from above on a bridge.
Rinpung Dzong Window
The doors and windows in Bhutan are visually stunning. This particular window at Rinpung Dzong is particular;y graphic. The geometrical shapes, patterns and colors of this one make for a great photograph(ic).
House Front - Shingkhur Village
Great color, texture and composition.

Protect!
Throughout Bhutan, the phallus is a protective symbol. Many houses have several painted on the outside, particularly near doorways. In Thimpu, I saw this poster promoting safe sex and couldn't resist.
Drying Onions - Phobjikha
The late afternoon sun provided a wonderful light for these drying onions in Phobjikha.
Punakha Rice Terrace
At Punakha the rice terraces were alternatively being lit by the sun breaking through the clouds. This was the best shot.

Incense Burner & Flags
All the passes in Bhutan are festooned with many prayer flags and usually have an incense burner.
