It is difficult to take a "different" picture of the pyramids. We were walking around and I wondered what it would look like from the corner with an extremely (16mm equivalent) lens. Here it is. There were only a few tourists in the background that needed removing in Photoshop.

Abu Simbel is one of the wonders of Egypt at two levels. First is the original execution as a monument to Ramses II. The second is how it was rescued from the rising waters of Lake Nasser and reassembled. If you look closely, you can see the cutlines where it was taken apart and put back together. We were there mid-morning so the light was so-so. I like to shoot into the sun and was in the entrance with my wide angle lens. Looking out at 16mm, the walls seem to lean towards each other and framed the blazing yellow sun nicely. I had to do some work to get rid of some flare, but I really like the resulting shot.

The old buildings in Cairo are an almost inexhaustible trove of image possibilities. I liked the soft light reflected from an opposite wall, as well as the symmetry and soft color palette.

The reliefs and murals in the Egyptian temples are wonderful in the right light. This is one of my favorites.

I took a less than graceful camel ride to this monastary outside of Aswan, Egypt. The guide I hired was interesting looking and very cooperative. Here he is waiting patiently for me as I take pictures.

I love signs and interesting patterns and colors. The bazaar is full of them. This is one of the best ones.

This man had a wonderful face. I had to pay him to pose, something that I have finally gotten used to. He was not a happy camper, but the light and his expression make a wonderful portrait.
